Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, has revealed that his initial aspiration was to serve as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, not to hold the office of Governor.
He said while he cannot question destiny, his true goal lies in academia.
Zulum delivered remarks at a farewell ceremony honoring the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Aliyu Shugaba, which took place in Maiduguri over the weekend.
Zulum expressed his desire to achieve this ambition once his tenure as governor concludes.
Zulum highlighted four investment areas – livestock, poultry, and commercial agriculture – drawing on his experience as Ramat Polytechnic’s former Rector.
He vowed to tackle power, water, and academic issues, and praised the outgoing vice chancellor for maintaining stability amidst challenges like COVID-19, TSA, and IPPS.
