Borno State Governor Umara Babagana Zulum, has come under criticism again for still paying local government teacher N5,000 to N7,000 as monthly salary.
People are shocked that the Borno State government has refused to do the right things three years after this story was exposed.
Video of teachers lamenting on social media has still surfaced again of teacher coming out to cry out that they are still being paid N5,000 to N7,000 in 2024.
“Some get paid some don’t and LG teachers earn as low as 5k and 7K,” Commanda Morroco, an activist from Borno confirms to Reportage.
“Zullum is the full definition of incompetency, but because he has a Good media team people thought he is doing wonder. Almost 70% of the schools and renovations going on in Borno is sponsored by NGOs and his not paying good salary, and if you’re looking for ethnic bigot his the number one,if you’re not kanuri then you are incomplete to him.” Commada Morroco reiterated.
Reportage has seen videos of Local Government teachers lamenting about not being able to feed their families. On the issue of looking only after his people and marginalising other tribes, there is a video of Zulum saying he will not give any position to the people of Southern Borno because they didn’t vote for him. Another controversy was Gov. Zulum targetting of demolition of churches. In one incident one Christian protester was killed.
