The Young Professionals of Nigeria (YPN) gathered in Abuja over the weekend to assess the current state of the nation following President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration in 2023.
The group, comprising members from all 36 states, issued a press statement praising the president’s efforts in setting a renewed hope agenda for a prosperous Nigeria.
The statement, signed by Pastor John Desmond and Ahmad Yakubu, acknowledged the president’s bold move in confronting the subsidy giant, which has led to increased monthly allocations to states and a boost in capital projects. They also commended the national tax reforms, waiver for food importation, and the Supreme Court’s ruling granting financial autonomy to local government administrations.
The YPN praised the performance of several presidential appointees, including:
– Minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dele Alake, for his strides in solid mineral development and contribution to Nigeria’s foreign reserves
– Minister of Works, David Umahi, for developing a stakeholder framework and addressing road construction delays
– Minister of Steel, Audu Shuaibu, and Minister of Interior, Ojo, for their commitment to rediscovering Nigeria’s steel production and revolutionizing domestic security
– Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Adebayo Onanuga, for managing national information effectively
– National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for leading an intelligence-based approach and rebuilding Nigeria’s security architecture
– Chairman of FIRS, Zack Adedeji, for doubling the nation’s revenue collection without increasing taxes
The YPN urged all Nigerians to support President Tinubu in his efforts to defy economic odds and put the country on the path to prosperity. They believe the reforms embarked upon by the president will create a conducive atmosphere for investors and investment to flourish in Nigeria.
