Dee One, a comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, whose real name is Adedayo Aderombi, has clarified that his criticisms of some ex-BBN housemates are not driven by personal animosity.
Instead, he aims to challenge and correct the misleading narratives and false impressions some of them present online.
He revealed that, “I don’t bring personal and private issues to the public; it is only things that are already out there I talk about. How can someone say he lost 70,000 euros? Those things are just ridiculous. If you are making that type of money, I don’t think the first thing you would do is to come out and tell the public; it is more like you are showing off. I just come out to correct the perception people have about ex-housemates, because some of them use lies as a strategy to remain relevant. Somebody could wake up and say she bought an aeroplane. How? How many people even own a private jet in this country?
“Those are definitely lies, which they use as a marketing strategy to stay relevant. But, they are misleading many people with those fake narratives and fake lives. Meanwhile, I don’t come out to say they are lies; I just draw the attention of the public to the logic (illogic) of whatever they say.”
Dee One also explained that nowadays, people often bring certain online narratives to his attention and request his input, encouraging him to share his perspective and set the record straight on the misleading information being spread by some of his former fellow housemates.
