Okpebholo was born in Esan land and lived his early life in the land of his fathers, deeply rooted in the traditions and values of the Esan people, a community known for valor, industry, integrity, and other great virtues. This unique indomitable spirit, tenacity, and perseverance of the Esan people enabled Okpebholo to excel in business, starting from very humble beginnings. He traveled to other lands in search of education and financial independence through legitimate means, not minding personal loss and avoiding self-pity. Through sheer hard work and determination, he succeeded in building a solid business empire.
Make no mistake, there are no limitations of poverty in the mind, soul, and body of the Esan. The Esan people will journey far and wide, engaging in lawful businesses and working until they succeed. The Esan never forget their roots. Like every other Esan man or woman before him, Monday Okpebholo always returned to the soil that birthed him, leaving indelible marks in the sands of time, impacting the people every step of the way. He embarked on people-oriented projects, providing pipe-borne water for his community, building healthcare centers, empowering his people and other parts of Edo through investments in businesses, and offering scholarships. He contributed immensely to the socio-economic well-being of Edo as a whole, without ever nurturing the ambition of contesting for any political position. However, the people could not let go of such an illustrious son and pressured him to represent them at the federal level. Such was the trust they had in him that the humble boy, born to humble parents in the serene but progressive community of Udomi-Uwessan, Irrua, unseated the incumbent senator of his senatorial district in an unprecedented feat for a first-timer.
Monday Okpebholo, the senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, is poised to make history a second time by recording an unparalleled defeat of the stooge imposed on the Edo State PDP by the very unpopular Godfather – Governor Godwin Obaseki. It is now common knowledge that the already decimated PDP will be left reeling by the crushing defeat of its political weakling, the so-called Ighodalo, who has already lost the race before it began. Edo is ready for a re-birth, from Obaseki ‘s MOU government to massive development, from mothers and children indiscriminately thrown into prison for not paying oppressive market levies, from tons of children purged from schools into criminality, from sinking superficial roads to world standard constructions, from a state convulsed by erosion gullies into a healthy ecologically focussed terrain, from high sounding empty grammar meaning and producing nothing, to tangible work and unrivalled progress. We, the Edos believe and so shall it be.
