A devastating petrol tanker explosion along the Kano-Hadejia expressway in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State has resulted in numerous casualties, with reports of many lives lost and hundreds injured.
The tragic incident occurred late Tuesday night and raged on for several hours, causing widespread panic and destruction.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the explosion was triggered around 11:45 pm on Tuesday and continued until approximately 3:15 am on Wednesday. The tanker’s explosion unleashed a massive fire that rapidly spread across the area, overwhelming local emergency services and leaving a trail of devastation.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the fire spreading quickly and engulfing everything in its path. As of now, videos circulating on social media reveal the intensity of the blaze, highlighting the scale of the tragedy. The explosion left at least 300 people severely injured, with many being rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.
