Popular TikToker, Peller, has revealed an unconventional strategy that helped him achieve massive success on the social media platform.
The content creator disclosed that his decision to switch from speaking polished English to using “bad English” was a game-changer in gaining traction and attracting viewers.
Sharing his experience during a chat with Nedu, Peller said his initial attempts at creating content in flawless English earned him little attention, with just a handful of views—most of them coming from his family members. However, when he adopted a more relaxed and comedic persona by speaking “bad English,” his engagement skyrocketed.
“I started my TikTok with good English, but I used to get like 10 views, and 5 of them were my family members,” Peller explained. “But when I started going live with my bad English, I started getting more than 2,000 views. If you want to make it on TikTok, you have to act like a dull person.”

His statement has sparked mixed reactions online, with many debating whether the approach promotes mediocrity or is simply a reflection of adapting to audience preferences. Others praised his candidness, noting that his strategy reflects the evolving dynamics of social media, where entertainment often outweighs traditional measures of excellence.
