Popular content creator Layi Wasabi, born Isaac Olayiwola, recently opened up about how a breakup served as the catalyst for launching his successful career.
Speaking at an event, the comedian shared how losing his girlfriend motivated him to start creating content that eventually went viral.
According to Layi, he had always made funny videos but kept them within his close circle of friends who found them amusing. However, after his relationship ended because he wasn’t perceived as serious about his life, he decided to take a bold step and began posting his comedic videos online.
With nothing left to lose, Layi Wasabi embraced his passion and started uploading content daily. His persistence paid off when his videos began gaining traction.
“I would make funny videos but only show them to my friends,” he recalled. “When my relationship ended because I wasn’t showing seriousness, I felt like I had nothing to lose. So, I started spamming you all with content every day. By the grace of God, I had my first viral video, then the second, and the third, and that’s when my ex called me.”
