The Nigerian government has officially granted approval for the construction of a private airstrip at Canaanland, the global headquarters of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, located in Ota, Ogun State.
Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the church, made the announcement during a special service, emphasizing the strategic importance of the airstrip for facilitating travel, particularly during large-scale events like the annual Shiloh convention, which attracts thousands of worshippers from around the world.
“The Federal Government has approved an airstrip for Canaanland. Now, I won’t need to fly a helicopter to the airport. I can travel directly from here to wherever I want. Our members who own planes will also have a place to land and park,” Bishop Oyedepo said, highlighting the benefits of the new development.
The airstrip is expected to streamline travel for both worshippers and guests, providing direct access to Canaanland and eliminating the need to navigate through major airports.
Bishop Oyedepo further noted that the entire project will be fully funded by the church, reflecting its commitment to self-reliance and infrastructural growth. While specific details about the construction timeline were not revealed, the church assured its members that the project would comply with all regulatory and safety standards.
