Popular Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has expressed his disappointment at not receiving an invitation to Davido’s wedding, despite their long-standing cordial relationship.
The revelation came during a candid conversation on the podcast Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by comedian Isbae U.
Kuti, during the chat, shared how hurt he felt when the Nigerian superstar failed to invite him to one of the most talked-about weddings in the country. According to him, despite Davido frequently visiting his ‘Shrine’ with a large entourage to enjoy drinks without paying, he was left off the guest list when it came time for the lavish celebration.
Reflecting on the snub, Kuti admitted the emotional toll it took on him. “It really hurt me. I was deeply pained,” he revealed. “Davido used to come to the Shrine with about 100 people, they’d drink, and they wouldn’t pay… but when it was time for his wedding, I didn’t get an invite. I couldn’t sleep for almost a week.”
Isbae U, in his usual playful manner, teased Kuti about the snub, asking, “How does it feel to be one of the notable Nigerian celebrities who wasn’t invited to one of the biggest weddings in Nigeria?”
To this, Kuti humorously but emotionally responded, “It pained me, it pained me deeply.”
