The Ogun State Police Command has initiated a search and recovery effort for the body of a 32-year-old police officer’s son, who allegedly drowned in the Ogun River.
The victim, Francis Danjuma, a resident of Isheri Olofin, was last seen leaving his house around 2:00 p.m. on June 12, 2024, headed to the river to bathe, but his body has not been found since then.
According to a police statement assertained by our correspondent, the incident was reported by his father, Deputy Superintendent of Police Danjuma Shaibu, who lives at the Alausa Police Barracks in Lagos State.
City Round discovered that despite the concerted efforts of family members and local divers, the search for Danjuma’s body has so far been unsuccessful.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state command, spoke with our correspondent on Thursday about the incident and reported that police officers at the Ojodu-Abiodun division have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to recover the victim’s body.
She said, “Upon receiving the tragic news, detectives from the Ojodu-Abiodun division visited the scene and coordinated with local divers and the Olofin Council to search for the body.
“Efforts to locate the body are ongoing. We are also working to uncover the details leading to this unfortunate incident.”
