Former aide to Atiku Abubakar, Daniel Bwala, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), weeks after his controversial appointment as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The announcement was made via Bwala’s X (formerly Twitter) page, where he shared a photo of himself at the APC media center, captioned “Sweet Home.”

Bwala’s return to the APC fulfills widespread predictions that his acceptance of a role in Tinubu’s administration signaled a shift in allegiance. This development also marks a political homecoming, as Bwala had previously been a member of the APC before defecting to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to support Atiku during the 2023 presidential election campaign.
His appointment by Tinubu was met with mixed reactions. Critics within the PDP questioned his decision to join an administration he had once vehemently opposed, while some APC supporters expressed skepticism, citing his past criticism of Tinubu. Despite the backlash, Bwala’s shift contrasts with figures like Nyesom Wike, who remains in the PDP despite serving as the Federal Capital Territory Minister under the Tinubu administration.
