Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023 general election, has celebrated students from St. John Vianney Science College, Igbariam, Anambra State for winning the 2024 edition of National Girls in ICT Competition.
The competition was organized by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
They won the national award by defeating other teams from all the states in the nation, through their virtual reality project, M-Tag VR.
Their project reportedly allows users to explore iconic landmarks in the nation and explore the beautiful cultural aspects of Nigerian tribes.
Obi disclosed this in a statement released on his X account @PeterObi, emphasised that this day reminds us of the importance of education, with a special focus on the female folk.
He said: “While we continue to advocate for the prioritization of education in society, we must ensure equitable access to education for girls and promote inclusive learning for them. Adding that in the New Nigeria, investment in education remains a priority.
Obi therefore, congratulated and rejoiced with the girls, their teachers, and their entire school, for giving the girls the platform to shine and making efforts to bring out the best in them.
While emphasizing that in the New Nigeria investment in education remains a priority. Peter Obi reiterated that we shall pursue a Nigerian modernity based on excellence in education, innovation and learning of new skills to attain competitiveness with the rest of the world.

Today, I am delighted to celebrate the young Nigerian girls who won the National Girls in ICT Competition 2024, organized by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
These young students from St. John Vianney Science College, Igbariam, Anambra State, were reported to have triumphed over other teams from all the states in the nation, to win the national award, through their virtual reality project, M-Tag VR.
