Governor Ademola Adeleke has unveiled plans to launch the Osun Young Agropreneurs Incubation Programme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting young farmers and agropreneurs across the agricultural value chain.
The governor revealed that the initiative is a product of the Food Security Committee’s recommendations, which have been entrusted to the implementation committee, chaired by Mr. Olaniran Akanfe, for execution.
The governor stated that the programme will allocate a minimum of 1,000 hectares of land in each local government area, and will also provide tractors to clear the land, in order to support the young farmers and agropreneurs.
While speaking after a meeting with a Nordic firm, an organisation interested in setting up a tractor assembly plant in Osun, the State Governor, also said his plan for the agricultural sector was robust and all-inclusive one, adding that the state was ready to implement various programmes in the sector.
According to Governor Adeleke, the initiative will provide a range of support measures, including farm inputs, guaranteed offtaking, all-season irrigation farming, integration of hydroponic and precision farming, and a commitment to gender balancing and inclusivity.
