Laolu Akande, former media adviser to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, expressed disappointment and embarrassment over the Buhari-led administration’s inability to tackle corruption.
Akande acknowledged the government’s missed opportunity, despite his involvement, clarifying his limited role to speaking on behalf of the Vice President and government.
He emphasized President Buhari’s responsibility as Minister of Petroleum to address corruption in the oil sector.
Akande urged the new administration under President Tinubu to fulfill the 2015 promises, particularly in combating corruption.
“The Buhari administration failed to eradicate corruption, and it’s embarrassing. I served as media head for the Vice President, but my role was limited. The President, as Minister of Oil, bore responsibility.
“We wasted eight years, and I’m personally disappointed. But President Tinubu now has the opportunity to make up for it.
“I joined the 2015 campaign believing Buhari would solve Nigeria’s problems. We saw differences when we took action, but the government ultimately didn’t solve corruption.
“Nigerians deserve better. President Tinubu must fulfill the 2015 promises.”- Laolu said
