Oba Fredrick Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom in the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, has congratulated Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State Governor, on his victory in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Thediscovererng.com reports that Aiyedatiwa won the primary election after polling 48,569 votes to defeat 15 other contestants in the poll.
Olugbo, in his congratulatory message to the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Ademibo Akingboye, on Thursday, described the victory as a destined victory.
In the statement, the monarch noted the continuous cooperation between the Ondo State government and traditional institutions in the state to enhance peace and unity.
The statement read, “Oba Akinruntan commended all aspirants of the All Progressives Congress and, particularly, Ilaje Local Government Area for the sportsmanship displayed and implored them to support Aiyedatiwa’s governorship bid.”
The monarch also hailed the national leadership of the APC led by Dr Umar Ganduje and the chairman of the primary election committee and Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, for what he described as a peaceful and violence-free primary.
In the same vein, the Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State congratulated the governor on his victory at the primary.
Mrs Olubunmi Omoniyi, the acting chairperson of the council, in a statement, described Aiyedatiwa’s victory at the APC primary election as “well deserved and reward for his commitment to uplifting the state to greater heights.”
Omoniyi said, “On behalf of myself and my family and the entire board and management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, I hereby extend hearty congratulations to our own dear governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Executive Governor of Ondo State, on his well-deserved victory and his emergence as the flag-bearer at the All Progressives Congress at the primary, held last Saturday.
“His victory at the primary election was not only well-deserved but a reflection of his acceptance by the generality of both APC members across the state and the generality of Ondo citizenry.
“It is also the reward of the giant strides he has made within the short time he assumed the mantle of leadership of the Sunshine State.”
