Ondo State Government has confirmed two cholera cases within the state.
According to the Commissioner for Health Banji Ajaka, he said “immediate surveillance has been activated to respond swiftly to any potential cholera outbreaks”.
The cases were reported in Okitipupa LGA, and Ajaka mentioned that the situation has been contained by a rapid response team.
“He also noted that community informants and contact tracers have been trained and placed on stipends for eight months to enhance surveillance and active case detection in anticipation of any cholera incidents.
“Ajaka emphasized plans to establish an emergency preparedness committee to address issues such as access to clean water, sanitation improvement, and strengthening health facilities across the state”.
Additionally, he assured the public of government efforts in raising awareness through mass media and community engagements.
