Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Kogi State.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Ododo praised the initiative, saying it will help address climate change by promoting renewable energy sources and adaptation in Nigeria.
The college, located at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, aims to empower marginalized communities, foster gender equality, and enhance local resilience.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, described the ceremony as a significant moment towards sustainable development and energy transition in Nigeria.
A statement signed by Ismaila Isah, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, says Governor Ododo emphasized the college’s importance in addressing manpower gaps in the renewable energy industry and harnessing abundant energy resources through effective collaboration.
Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, highlighted the college’s role in bridging manpower development gaps and enhancing knowledge in innovation and renewable energy opportunities.
Governor Ododo’s support for the project was acknowledged, with Mr. Nnaji commending him for his contribution to making the Renewable Energy College a reality.
