In a move aimed at addressing the housing deficit in Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Ododo has directed the immediate commencement of work on the proposed 1,000-unit housing estate under the Renewed Hope Housing Project.
The Governor gave the directive while hosting the Management of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) led by the Managing Director, Ayotunde Ojo, on a working visit to Lokoja, the state capital.
The meeting was aimed at finalizing preparations for the implementation of the Renewed Hope Housing Project in the state, which is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to address the housing deficit in Nigeria.
Governor Ododo described the meeting as timely, given the administration’s determination to ensure Kogi State receives its fair share of efforts to address the housing deficit in Nigeria.
Kogi State is critical to the actualization of federal government policy to provide affordable housing for Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda, due to its strategic location, which borders nine other states and the FCT.
The state government has allocated 100 hectares of land to the Federal Housing Authority to begin building the Renewed Hope City, with full compensation paid by the government.
The Governor praised President Bola Tinubu for considering Kogi State for the Renewed Hope Housing Project, which aligns with his campaign promise to make Kogi state open for business and expand housing development beyond the 16-kilometer radius of the state capital master plan.
The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, Ayotunde Ojo, described his visit as a homecoming due to his ancestral ties to the state capital and praised Governor Ododo for prioritizing workers’ welfare and ensuring security of lives and property in the state.
The organization will mobilize resources to begin building the Renewed Hope City as soon as possible, which will be situated on a 100-hectare plot off the Lokoja-Okene road in Zariagi.
