The Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), on Saturday won the prestigious Nigeria Govtech Public Service Award as the Best State University in Innovative Use Of Technology 2024.
Similarly, The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, FELLOW; UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFPN in recognition of her outstanding leadership in advancing GovTech initiatives and digital governance within the University which has contributed significantly to the Federal Government digital transformation agenda in the Public Sector was honoured with the DISTINGUISHED GOVTECH TRAILBLAZER’S AWARD.
The dinner and award presentation ceremony which was organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms was held at the Iconic NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja on Friday 11th October 2024.
In her acceptance speech, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman thanked the organisers for bestowing the award to the University stating that it is the University’s modest achievement in advancing GovTech’s initiatives and digital governance in Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that since she came onboard in April 2024 her administration has deliberately engaged in a purposeful Digital Revolution as one of the strategic objectives aimed at integrating the latest technology into teaching, research, and innovation while also building upon the previous administration’s initiatives.
Professor Sa’adatu while highlighting the gains of the Digital Revolution noted that as a result of the synergy between her office and the ICT Directorate notable achievements have been recorded in the management of the student portal to improve service delivery and efficiency, evaluating and reviewing the existing student payment portal to reduce to the bearest minimum financial leakages
Other benefits according to the Vice-Chancellor are the upgrading of the online Post UTME Screening and admission process thereby reducing the challenges faced by applicants during the previous exercise, upgrading the Internet access in the University from 156mbps to 1Gbps and the introduction of Computer Based Tests(CBT) across most platforms in the University.
The Vice-Chancellor further explained that the achievements introduced into the system have helped to address many unethical issues in the University and simultaneously ensured an improved revenue base for the system, and guaranteeing the sanctity of Academic records and improving transparency in examination administration.
Professor Sa’adatu in appreciation thanked the Bureau of Public Service Reforms for painstakingly spearheading the laborious process that saw the emergence of NSUK and her humble self for the coveted awards.
Other winners at the event include the Honorable Minister of Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, the Governor of Niger State, H.E. Muhammad Umar Bago, the Governor of Kaduna State, H.E. Uba Sani amongst many distinguished Nigerians, Ministries Departments and Agencies were all big winners at the event.
