Two days ago, I had a solid two hours interaction with Hon. Abbas Faruq. He was until recently the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly.
We were meeting for the first time since our path crossed on Facebook. He is a politician with a second address. He practises law. But our discussion centered on politics, socials and education. He demonstrated to me that in life, one must live an impactful life. And that as a politician, one must allow one’s conscience to play the deciding factor during points of decision making.
At the end of our meeting, I became further convinced that not all Ejigbo politicians worship money. I recalled an incident before the 2022 Governorship. Entreaties were made to me to convince my Principal to reach out to some key politicians in Ejigbo ahead of the election. I was reluctant, so also was my Principal. In the end, we agreed he should go ahead. Hon. Sunday Akere was one of the political juggernauts who believed we should reach out to the Ejigbo politicians.
Meetings were held. Assurances were given and there was this particular Ejigbo politician that was well mobilised few days to the election to enable him take care of some election logistics. Hmmmm. In the end, everything went with the wind. Same man fingered in the misappropriation today wants to be canonized as an advocate of integrity, preaching about honesty in all hamlets and towns. The man, who without decency and control worshipped money yesterday, is today found in every corner sermonizing about probity and uprightness. Politicians and their sweet talks. The man wants to tell us another story again o… Apologies to TuBaba.
However, Hon. Abbas Faruq appears different. Therefore, those of you who always try to use Mr. Kehinde Araj’s comment, on security money deployed to undermine the APC chances in the 2022 governorship election, to judge Ejigbo politicians, I can confirm to you that not all Ejigbo politicians worship money. May Allah never allow us witness a decline in our endeavours. Amin.
