The National Judicial Council (NJC) has issued a letter of advice to Justice O.M. Olagunju of the Oyo State High Court, urging her to exercise caution in her actions and communications, even in challenging situations.
This follows her use of inappropriate language in a letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, challenging the NJC’s decision on the appointment of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal in Oyo State.
Additionally, the NJC has constituted probe panels to investigate judicial officers accused of misconduct. The decision was made at the 106th NJC meeting, presided over by outgoing Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
The Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee reviewed petitions against judicial officers, finding merit in some cases. Petitions lacking merit, abandoned, or subjudice were dismissed.
The NJC is investigating allegations against various judges, including those from federal and state high courts. The council emphasizes its commitment to maintaining judicial integrity and upholding the principles of justice.
The probe panels will thoroughly investigate the allegations, ensuring that justice is served and the integrity of the judiciary is maintained.
