Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun has officially been named the Chief Justice of Nigeria, following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
With this appointment, Justice Kekere-Ekun, previously the second most senior justice on the Supreme Court, becomes the second woman in Nigeria’s history to assume the role of Chief Justice.
She follows Justice Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, who served as the first female CJN from 2012 to 2014.
Justice Kekere-Ekun’s elevation to Chief Justice is a landmark event in Nigeria’s judiciary, highlighting her extensive experience and commitment to upholding the rule of law.
