The North East zone of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Zone E has condemned the recent suicide attacks in Borno State, which claimed lives and rendered many others injured .
A Statement jointly signed by the Vice President, Mrs Dorcas Philimon and the Zonal Secretary zone E, Mrs Hauwa Aliyu, which was made available to reporters on Sunday expressed deep condolences to the victims, the government and people of Borno State following the recent tragic incident in Gwoza Local Government Area.
The statement however condemned the inhuman act which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and left many injured, and described the attack as devastating in a peaceful and progressive society.
While acknowledging the relentless efforts of the present administration in combating terrorism and the pressure being mounted against the criminal elements, Nawoj zone E therefore called on governments at all levels to ensure reinforcement of security operatives in the Area in order to avert future occurrence of the ugly incidence.
The statement also expressed firm belief that with sustained efforts and cooperation among security agencies, the menace of terrorism would be effectively curtailed, and commended the Borno State Government for its swift response and measures taken to stabilize the situation in the affected communities.
Nawoj used the medium to advocate the need for collective resilience and unity among the people of Northern Nigeria, to remain firm in unity, and to be undeterred by the acts of terror to ensure lasting peace and security in our region”.
The statement also expressed firm believe that with sustained efforts and cooperation among security agencies, the menace would be curtailed.
It therefore sympathise with the victims and their families over the loss and the injuries sustained, and prayed for peace and stability to prevail across the region and the nation in general”. END
