The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has pledged his support for initiatives aimed at bringing financial services to rural communities.
This commitment was made during a strategic meeting with stakeholders, including Senior Adviser to the President on Financial Inclusion Dr. Nurudeen Abubakar Zaaura, Sa’adatu, High Chief Temitope Fawehinmi, Financial Inclusion Ambassador, and Godwin Odoma, MD TNG Consulting services.
The meeting focused on exploring ways to increase access to financial services for farmers and herders, who are often excluded from formal financial systems.
According to the Minister, “Financial inclusion is critical for the growth and development of the livestock sector. By providing access to financial services, we can empower farmers and herders to improve their productivity, increase their incomes, and contribute to the country’s economic growth.”
The Minister emphasized that his ministry is committed to working with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that address the financial exclusion of farmers and herders.
High Chief Temitope Fawehinmi, Financial Inclusion Ambassador, commended the Minister for his commitment to financial inclusion. “This is a significant step towards promoting financial inclusion in the livestock sector,” he said.
Dr. Nurudeen Abubakar Zaaura, Technical Advisor to the President on Financial Inclusion, emphasized the importance of using data to drive financial inclusion initiatives. “We need to work together to develop solutions that are tailored to the needs of farmers and herders,” he said.
Godwin Odoma, MD TNG Consulting services, emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to addressing financial exclusion.”Data is critical in identifying areas of exclusion and developing targeted interventions to address them,” he said.
