Mali’s junta has banned all political activities in the country.
The junta issued a decree that puts a sudden stop to all political party.
The announcement was delivered by government spokesperson Abdoulaye Maiga in a statement broadcast on state television on Wednesday evening.
The proclamation halts indefinitely all operations of political parties and entities with political affiliations to uphold public order, as stated in the announcement.
Since August 2020, Mali has been under the control of the military, marking the inaugural of eight coups within a span of four years across West and Central Africa, with similar upheavals occurring in neighboring countries such as Burkina Faso and Niger.
