Members of the Rivers State National Assembly have dumped the former Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The lawmakers have also declared their support for Governor, Siminalayi Fubara of the state.
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that in the coming days, a serving senator and more members of the House of Reps would dump Wike who now wants to colonise Rivers State and turn it into his personal property.
Already, five out of the 11 lawmakers from the House of Representatives that were hitherto, strong supporters of Wike have dumped him for Fubara just as the anti-Wike drum is now hitting louder in Rivers State.
One of the members of the House of Reps, Hon Boniface Emerengwa (PDP, Ikwere/Emuoha), who was a staunch supporter of Wike has openly declared support for Fubara.
Other lawmakers that had earlier dumped Wike included Hon. Abiante (PDP-Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro), Hon. Umezuruike (Labour-Port Harcourt I), Dr. Anderson Allison (APC-Okrika/Ogu/Bolo) and Hon. Boma Goodhead (PDP-Asari Toru/Akuku Toru).
The Rivers State National Assembly Caucus made up of three senators and 11 House of Representatives members had in December 2023, visited Wike during which he vowed that he would not allow anyone to destroy the political structures he has built for years.
However, in the last few days, there has been a subtle political realignment in Rivers State as Wike reportedly fell out with Dr. Peter Odili, and his wife, Justice Mary Odili over their alleged support and strong backing of Governor Fubara. As part of the political crisis, Wike recently made veiled reference to Dr Odili and his wife as “one man and one woman” saying; “I built the Cancer Center in a record time by the best construction company, Julius Berger and I named it after one man. I built the Judicial Institute and I named it after one woman.”
Wike named the cancer centre in Port Harcourt after Odili in 2022 as well as named the judicial institute after Justice Mary Odili (rtd).
