Renowned Mass Communication professor and newspaper columnist Farooq Kperogi has lamented about President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as “hard-hearted”.
Kperogi made the lamentation while reacting to the president’s national broadcast on the recent nationwide protests against hunger that was aired on Sunday by radio and television stations.
The academic urged a policy reversal to address the country’s economic woes including the restoration of fuel and electricity subsidies.
Kperogi criticised Tinubu’s speech, saying it showed a callous disregard for the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
The professor argued that Tinubu’s refusal to restore petrol and electricity subsidies has exacerbated the economic hardship, making life unbearable for many citizens.
He emphasised that energy security is a matter of national security and that the president’s policies are putting the country at risk.
“The truth Tinubu must know is that the current hardship in Nigeria is not survivable. This is not an issue of political partisanship.
“There’s no alternative to restoring petrol and electricity subsidies. Energy security is national security.”, Kperogi stated on his Facebook page.
