Nollywood film producer and marketer, Kazim Adeoti, has opened up about the ongoing rift with his first wife, Olufunsho Adeoti, following his noticeable absence from her highly talked-about 50th birthday celebration in the United States.
Olufunsho’s glamorous birthday party, which took place in the U.S., sparked reactions from netizens, with many criticizing Kazim Adeoti, for his absence and accusing him of abandoning his marriage after taking a second wife. The online backlash led to widespread discussions on social media, questioning his relationship with his first wife.
In response to the speculations, Kazim Adeoti took to Instagram to issue a public statement, explaining his side of the story. He revealed that although he was not present at the event, he had provided both financial and moral support to ensure the success of his wife’s milestone celebration.
Kazim disclosed that Olufunsho had explicitly requested that he not attend the party, a decision she made in the presence of their children. Despite his disappointment, he respected her wishes to avoid causing any embarrassment by attending an event where he was not welcome.
“For clarity, the celebrant discussed her plans for the party, and to my shock, she specifically asked me not to attend. I double-checked with her in front of our children, and her response remained the same—she did not want me there,” he explained. “Although her stance was painful, I supported her both morally and financially and made sure some of our family and friends in the U.S. were present to celebrate with her.”
Kazim further emphasized that his relationship with Olufunsho remains cordial and that he continues to wish her well, both publicly and privately. He added that they share a deep bond as parents to their four children, which is something he holds dear.
“Olufunsho remains a significant part of my life. I can never wish her anything but the best, as she is the proud mother of my four beautiful children. That is something that can never change,” he stated.
He also appealed to the public, especially social media users, to refrain from making unfounded and negative comments about his family, stressing that social media is not a reflection of real life.
“The best way to support us is by allowing peace to reign. Social media is not real life,” Kazim concluded, urging for calm and respect regarding his personal affairs.
