Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has informed its customers of an upcoming migration to a new core banking system, which will result in temporary disruptions to banking services.
The bank is transitioning to a more advanced Finacle Core Banking Application System to enhance service delivery.
According to a notice from the bank, the system upgrade will commence on Friday, October 11, 2024, and is expected to be completed by Monday, October 14, 2024. As a result, all GTBank branches nationwide will close early at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11th, and will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14th.
Additionally, the bank’s digital services will experience temporary disruptions for 11 hours, starting from 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13th, and lasting until 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14th. During this period, customers will still be able to perform limited transactions such as transfers, bill payments, and airtime/data purchases via GTBank’s digital channels. However, other services will be unavailable.
GTBank emphasized that the transition is aimed at enhancing the customer experience by leveraging cutting-edge technology. The new system will enable the bank to drive digital transformation and offer seamless interactions across all customer touchpoints. This, the bank noted, would lead to improved service quality and overall banking experience.
The bank assured customers of continuous updates throughout the transition and expressed regret over any inconvenience caused. “We apologize for every inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding,” GTBank said in the statement.
The upgrade is part of GTBank’s ongoing efforts to modernize its systems and ensure that it continues to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
