Kataina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced plans for a state-wide tour to engage directly with citizens and gather their feedback on governance.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Mohammed Kaula, Governor Radda made this known during a media chat with journalists on Sunday, 25 August, 2024.
“The tour which will include town hall meetings across all three senatorial zones, aims to ensure that government policies align with the needs and aspirations of the people.
“Our government is aware of the challenges facing our people. I will embark on a tour across the state to hold town hall meetings, listen to the people, hear their grievances, and align government actions with their needs,” he stated.
Responding to poser on his China visit alongside other members of the State Executive Council, Governor Radda explained that the trip was aimed at fostering partnerships and investments to develop Katsina’s agricultural sector. “With about 90% of our population engaged in farming, these collaborations will significantly benefit our people and boost our state’s economy,” he said.
The Governor reiterated his sympathy for victims of banditry attacks and promised increased government commitment to addressing security challenges. He announced plans to recruit and train a new cohort of young men from select local governments for the Katsina Security Watch Corps, reinforcing the state’s security apparatus.
Governor Radda expressed deep appreciation for the people’s patience and understanding, affirming the administration’s commitment to improving their welfare. He commended Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe for his exemplary leadership during his absence, noting that it demonstrated the strength and unity of the current administration. The Governor also thanked the State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahya Daura, for their cooperation in repositioning the state.
