Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has inspected the ongoing 4.5 KM Ashaka-Jalingo-Gari road network project in Funakaye Local Government Area.
The project, which is part of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s ambitious Network 11-100 initiative, was awarded to Triacta Nigeria Ltd at a cost of N2.1 billion and is slated for completion within six months.
During his visit Tuesday, the Governor addressed the enthusiastic crowd that gathered to welcome him, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to providing essential social amenities to the people. He said emphasized that projects like these are crucial for the development and connectivity of the communities.
The governor warned against the encroachment on spaces designated for critical infrastructure, such as solar street lights and water pipes, stressing the importance of preserving these areas to ensure the successful implementation and longevity of the project.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to call on Ashaka Cement Plc to enhance their corporate social responsibility efforts by contributing more to the provision of social amenities for their host communities.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, provided a detailed overview of the Ashaka-Jalingo-Gari road project and other initiatives under the Network 11-100 project. He highlighted the progress made so far and the benefits once the projects are completed.
“The Network 11-100 project is a flagship initiative of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration aimed at constructing and rehabilitating 100 roads across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State. The Ashaka-Jalingo-Gari road network is one of the many projects that demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens”.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Saddam Bello, who represents Funakaye North, expressed gratitude to the Governor for approving such a vital project, noting that the road network will significantly enhance the area’s accessibility and spur economic development.
