The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has bagged a chieftaincy title, urging Nigerians to see the positive aspects of the nation’s diversity and use the differences for the rapid development of the nation.
Ganduje said the nation’s ethnic, religious and other differences were a source of great strength and a special gift from God which should be properly utilized by Nigerians for positive rather than negative ends.
The national chairman made the appeal Tuesday during an interaction with a delegation leaders and traditional rulers from Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State who visited him at the APC National Secretariat.
While responding to the requests of the visitors that he should help attract investment and development to the area, Ganduje commended them for yearning and seeking the growth of their area, adding thatonly progressive minded persons demand for Infrastructures and development of their community.
He reminded the visitors that better national integration will always lead to national development and he appealed to communities seeking rapid investment to create the conducive atmosphere that would attract investors, warning that without peace, it will be difficult for the nation to grow.
Ganduje said: “National unity and integration has
become very important now in our history. Our diversity is a blessing and a source of strength. We should harness this to greater advantage because it is our responsibility to come together and build a united country.”
He stated that God did not make any mistake by allowing the different tribes, religions and colour differences to co-exist in one space pointing out that the best way out was to make best use of the diversity for national integration.
Leader of the delegation HRM King N. S Orianzi, the Obenanawei of Ólodiana Clan, who presented the APC National Chairman with the chieftaincy title of Izon Ibidoyée 1 of Ijaw Kingdom extolled the qualities of Ganduje while urging him to replicate what he did in Kano for the community.
Earlier, the Secretary of the traditional council, Chief Ebiteo Robert Tonyon told the national chairman and members of the National Working Committee that the delegation came to request the assistance of the leaders to attract Infrastructural development, especially road network, and investment to the Southern Ijaw communities in Bayelsa State.
“Up till now we are still using Canoe as means of transportation from our communities. So, we appeal to the APC government to help us construct road leading to the Local Government.”
He said the community has been following the development strides of the APC National Chairman for a long time and resolved that he would be in the best position to assist the area.
