Some Bauchi State house of assembly aspirants under the aegis of ‘Bauchi State Assembly Aspirants Forum’ have praised Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South, for his efforts in reconciling aggrieved APC members and facilitating the return of those who defected to other parties during the 2019 and 2023 elections.
During a press conference held at Shaba Hotel, Bauchi, Honourable Aliyu Songuy, chairman of the forum who rejoined the APC, commended Senator Buba’s inclusive leadership, which he said has led to the return of several aspirants who had left the party due to grievances.
He said, although Buba represents Bauchi south, but he carries all party stalwarts across the state along in his empowerments with a view to unifying them and revitalising the party.
Songuy, who himself had left the APC to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and contested for a state assembly seat in the 2023 election, acknowledged that many aspirants had felt short-changed during the primaries and had defected to parties like the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
However, he expressed optimism that the APC would bounce back stronger in the 2027 election in Bauchi state, lauding Senator Buba’s efforts.
Our correspondent reports that APC had previously ruled Bauchi state from 2015 to 2019 but lost to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections.
