Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has spoken out in response to the Federal Government’s decision to suspend the Nigeria Air project.
Thediscovererng.com reports that Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, reaffirmed that the project unveiled by his predecessor, Hadi Sirika before the end of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration remains suspended.
Keyamo said, “It remains suspended. It was never Air Nigeria. It was not Air Nigeria. That’s the truth. It was only painted Nigeria Air. It was Ethiopian Airlines trying to flag our flag.
“If it is so, why not allow our local plane to fly our flag? So nobody should dispute that it was Nigeria Air.
“Air Nigeria must be indigenous, must be wholly Nigerian, and must be for the full benefits of Nigeria, not that 50 per cent of the profit is for another country.”
In response to the development, Bashir stated that he hopes that the project will be revived in the best interest of Nigeria.
He wrote on X formerly Twitter:
“I read that the Federal Government has indefinitely suspended the Nigeria Air project. I do hope that, after thorough review and consideration, the administration will resuscitate the project as it is in the best interest of Nigeria”.
