Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has dismissed recent reports claiming she is organizing a national prayer to address the country’s economic challenges.
Rumors surfaced suggesting that she, alongside National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, planned to lead a prayer event focused on tackling the nation’s ongoing hardships.
In an official statement on Saturday, November 9, 2024, through her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady labeled the reports as “unfounded and misleading.”
Kukoyi clarified, “The First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is not organizing any National Prayer. The news circulating on social and mainstream media is false and should be disregarded.”
The statement emphasized Mrs. Tinubu’s stance on prayer, which she considers a personal and voluntary act, urging Nigerians to pray for the nation as a collective responsibility. “Though a strong advocate for prayer, Her Excellency believes it is an act that should be undertaken willingly, conscientiously, and correctly, regardless of religious beliefs, political affiliations, or ethnic background,” Kukoyi added.
