Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has warned the Nigerians youth to avoid collaborating with a “shadowy group” seeking to incite a protest against the Commission.
EFCC warned in a statement from Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity.
“EFCC identified a group that has been actively campaigning on social media, aiming to recruit young Nigerians to challenge the Commission’s efforts against cybercrime.
“The group’s motives are suspected to be linked to individuals under investigation or prosecution by the EFCC who seek to exploit the protest for a broader agenda of national unrest.
“Oyewale emphasized that while the EFCC respects citizens’ rights to protest, the current movement is seen as a potential threat to national peace and security”.
The EFCC, in collaboration with other security agencies, is prepared to take measures against any attempts to disrupt public order.
The Commission also urged parents, guardians, and academic leaders to ensure that young people are not manipulated into participating in this planned protest.
EFCC reassured the public that its fight against corruption and cybercrime is aimed at safeguarding the future of Nigeria’s youth.
