Controversial politician, Senator Dino Melaye, has once again sparked conversations with a foreboding statement regarding the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the Edo State governorship election.
In a post on his X handle, Melaye predicted the imminent collapse of the PDP, hinting at a stronger All Progressives Congress (APC) presence within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
He posted: “With the Destroyer called Damagun on the wheels… PDP is in the departure lounge. Waiting for the boarding pass. Edo experience will be a joke. There are more APC in the NWC than PDP.”

This comes after the recent victory of APC’s Sen. Monday Okpebholo in the Edo governorship election. Melaye, who has been increasingly critical of the PDP leadership, seems to be using the Edo election results to fuel his claims of an impending downfall for the opposition party.
Dino Melaye has been in a long-standing feud with the PDP, a situation that worsened after he declared the party “dead” on his social media. His frequent attacks led to his suspension from the PDP for alleged anti-party activities.
His latest remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with some supporters of the party accusing Melaye of further dividing the PDP, while others see his comments as a reflection of deep-rooted issues within the party’s leadership.
Melaye’s outspoken nature and public dissent have intensified speculations about the PDP’s internal crisis, particularly after the Edo election. Many are now wondering if his predictions signal a larger problem that could affect the party’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.
The PDP is yet to issue an official statement in response to Melaye’s comments, but his ongoing criticisms have added fuel to the growing discourse surrounding the party’s future, leaving many wondering what steps the leadership will take to address these internal challenges.
