Despite receiving a red card against Manchester City, Leandro Trossard will be available for selection in Arsenal’s next Premier League against Leicester City on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
Trossard was sent off for a second yellow card by Michael Oliver before the half-time break after kicking the ball away upon a foul on Portuguese international, Bernardo Silva over the weekend.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) confirmed the incident as the Belgian was booked for delaying a restart.
However, it was reported that Trossard told his teammates in the dressing room that he did not hear the whistle, noting that he wanted to pass to his teammate.
Since Trossard’s sending-off was a result of two yellow cards, he will only be suspended for one game, which is applicable to all English competitions without the opportunity for appeal – and with the Gunners hosting Bolton in the third round of the EFL Cup later tonight, Trossard’s absence would mean that he has served his one-match suspension, hence available for selection in his side’s next Premier League game.
Declan Rice had earlier received a second yellow card for the same offence in Arsenal’s third Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion this season
