The Cross River State Government has urged young people to take on a vigilante role in their local communities, tasking them with spearheading efforts to ensure the safety and security of their neighborhoods.
Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Governor, made the appeal during a celebration marking his one-year anniversary in office, hosted by APC Ward 10 in Calabar South LGA on Tuesday.
He praised the youth as the driving force behind the party, encouraging them to sustain their leadership skills and continue making a positive impact within the party and their communities.
“Our party will not tolerate any crimes that our youths are linked to. We must continue to show leadership examples. I want you to constitute vigilante committees in your local communities that will thwart any criminal activities,” Ironbar said.
“The state governor is all out to nip crimes in the bud and so we must all give our support so that our state will remain crime-free and attract investors,” he added.
He promised the youth more opportunities for government appointments if they persisted in promoting peace and maintaining crime-free communities.
