A popular activist, Deji Adeyanju has said the Nigerian Police has failed woeful in its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property of Nigerians because they are more dedicated to protection of politicians, Pastors and others.
Adeyanju, however called on the federal government to create a special force for the protection of the so called Very Important Persons (VIPs).
He wrote on his page on Tuesday: “The officers and men of our security agencies are doing so much for this country despite the escalating insecurity situation in the country.
“My involvement in the last few days with efforts to rescue abducted Kogi students has been humbling about the level of work they do.
“One of our major problems is the police getting involved in civil disputes and following so called VIPS around daily.
“The police have largely failed in their constitutional duty of policing which is why other security agencies have to do their job of chasing criminals.
“It is my candid opinion that a special security unit be created to protect politicians, pastors and other so called VIPS so that the police can face its constitutional duty of protecting life and property.”
