Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, has categorically denied allegations that he was arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command for allegedly engaging in an affair with a married woman.
Sankara described the claims as “false, baseless, and malicious,” asserting that they are part of a calculated plot to tarnish his reputation.
In a public statement released on Sunday, Sankara firmly rejected the accusations, stating, “I wish to categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation. I urge the general public to disregard this fabricated story, which has been concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity.”
The commissioner, a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (FICA), emphasized his respect for the institution of marriage, pointing out that as a married man, he holds moral values in high regard. “I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity,” he stated.
Sankara also disclosed his intention to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the false allegations. “I am taking this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading this false information and attempting to cause harm to my person,” he added.
His denial comes amid a wave of reactions on social media, with supporters rallying behind the commissioner while others called for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.
Notably, the Kano Hisbah Command has yet to release an official statement on the matter, leaving many speculating about the details of the alleged incident.
Sankara concluded his statement by reiterating his commitment to serving the people of Jigawa State with integrity, urging the public to dismiss what he called a politically motivated smear campaign. He affirmed, “My focus remains on delivering dedicated service to the people of Jigawa State, and I will not be distracted by these baseless claims.”
