The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has cautioned the public against the activities of fraudsters claiming to possess contract award letters for construction projects or special financial interventions purportedly issued by the Bank.
In an official statement released on Monday, November 18, 2024, the CBN clarified that these claims are entirely false, describing the perpetrators as individuals aiming to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. The Bank emphasized that it has not issued any such authorizations or announcements on social media or other news platforms.
The statement, signed by Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director of Corporate Communications, reiterated that the CBN under its current management has discontinued all direct development interventions and special project funding. It further stressed that the Bank remains committed to its primary mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability while maintaining a robust and efficient financial system.
The CBN urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious claims or activities to the appropriate law enforcement authorities promptly.
