A 33-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar, on Monday, was arrested by the operatives of Adamawa State Police Command for killing his 25-year-old wife Hajara Sa’adu, over handset.
In Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa state, the suspect who happens to be a butcher in resident of Sabon Gari-Futy, was said to have used a very sharp knife to stab his wife severally on her back, resulting in her severe injuries.
With his anger unabated, the suspect reportedly left the injured woman who was blood-soaked.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, April 9, the command’s police spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the suspect brutally killed the deceased at about 4:30am, after arguments that arose over her taking his phone.
The PPRO disclosed that the father of the deceased came to report the case, leading to the arrest of the suspect, adding that preliminary investigation conducted led to the recovery of material evidences at the scene of the crime which were linked to him.
Nguroje said that the husband-turned-suspect voluntarily made a confessional statement, expressing regret for killing the mother of their only child.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, who explicited sadness over the inappropriate incident, assured that the Command would vigorously investigate and thereafter arraign the culprit.
Pertaining the case, the police commissioner has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department of Police to ensure that law takes its course through the investigation of the case.
