Nigerian music and film icon, Onyeka Onwenu, has passed away at the age of 72.
According to reports, Onyeka Onwenu passed away on Tuesday night at Reddington Hospital in Lagos, after suddenly collapsing at the birthday celebration of Mrs. Stella Okoli.
An eyewitness confirms Onyeka Onwenu’s death to TheNiche, after witnessing the incident at the party.
“It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped.
“She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it,” the eyewitness said.
However, the deceased’s family has yet to announce her death as of press time.
Onyeka Onwenu leaves behind a legacy of iconic music, including her beloved albums “In The Morning Light” and “Dancing In The Sun”.
Onyeka Onwenu’s acting credits include standout performances in “Half of a Yellow Sun” and “Lion’s Heart”, among others.
