A popular film actor in the northern Nigeria Adam Zango has asserted that becoming a celebrity is a calamity rather than blessing.
The kannywood star made the assertion in a live video he posted on his Facebook page wherein he lamented on his present ‘awful situation’ in the entertainment industry.
According to him, celebrities face a lot of challenges including financial problems but adopt fake lifestyles just to give impression to their fans that they are doing well.
He pointed out that some of them borrow money to do things so people will not say they are broke or bankrupt when in reality, they cannot afford them.
The celebrity actor who said he assisted a lot of his colleagues in the entertainment industry by donating cars and motorcycles to them, however decried that many of his beneficiaries betrayed and abandoned him now.
Zango, an actor, producer and singer revealed that when he was under problems, none of the people he helped in the industry stood by him or even defended him from public criticisms ‘because they are now the ones trending’ in the wood.
Expressing fear on his fate in the future, Zango pointed out that the industry desert the families of its deceased stars and dump old actors citing a former film director Ashiru Na Goma (who is now mentally affected), a funny actor Bashir Ciroki etc as examples of veterans allegedly abandoned by the industry.
The Discoverer reports that these lamentations made by the kannywood star elicited reactions from the public, many of whom opined that he was frustrated and depressed as a result of ‘his diminishing fame and relevance’.
Reacting to the development on Monday, the managing director of the Nigerian Films Corporation, Ali Nuhu who was a former super star in the kannywood industry, denied the insinuations “that his colleague is depressed”.
“He is fine and all is well with him now. Sometimes we get upset over some because we are humans. Thanks to you all for the care, concern and prayers. We really appreciate.”, he said while commenting on the matter.
