The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disassociated itself from the wave of endorsements for Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as a potential successor to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2027 governorship election.
In recent weeks, youth groups such as the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders and Friends of Seyi Tinubu have reportedly expressed support for Seyi’s candidacy, citing his leadership qualities and his father’s transformative work in Lagos.
However, Seye Oladejo, spokesperson for the Lagos APC, dismissed these reports, emphasizing that the party is not focused on the 2027 elections. Instead, he said their priority remains ensuring good governance and preparing for the 2025 local government elections.
“The party has not spoken about the 2027 election,” Oladejo stated. “This is the time for impactful governance, not needless politicking to heat the polity.”
Oladejo accused opposition groups of orchestrating the endorsements as a ploy to create division within the party and distract from its developmental agenda. He urged citizens to rally behind Governor Sanwo-Olu and President Tinubu to advance Lagos’ progress.
