The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has faulted the criticism of Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda’s appointment as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction by President Bola Tinubu.
The party in a statement by its acting publicity secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, described the criticism as an “affront and insult” to the collective interest of the people of Plateau State.
According to the statement, various groups and individuals in Plateau State have been celebrating Yilwatda’s appointment as a recognition of the state’s importance. However, a group called Progressive Volunteers For Tinubu has questioned Yilwatda’s competence and suggested that a woman should have been chosen instead.
The APC statement argues that this criticism is misplaced and malicious, pointing out that Dr. Yilwatda has a strong track record of public service and expertise in Artificial Intelligence.
The statement also notes that President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Dr. Yilwatda demonstrates his confidence and trust in him.
It’s worth noting that President Tinubu has been in office since May 2023, and his appointment of Dr. Yilwatda is seen as a significant development for Plateau State.
