Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed sixteen directors heading different units of their duties.
Thediscovererng.com gathered that, the disengagement comes in the wake of the implementation of some of the recommendations by Jim Obaze, the special investigator probing the activities of the apex bank under the stewardship of Godwin Emefiele, the embattled ex-governor of the apex bank.
Recall that 200 other employees of the bank were similarly dismissed but received their terminal benefits in full, according to an insider who asked not to be named because of the sensitive nature of the matter.
A source disclosed that the personnel were not accused of wrongdoing but were simply informed that their services were no longer needed.
Insiders said the directors were sacked following the implementation of the CBN special investigator’s report, which accused a number of the bank’s staff of conniving with Mr Emefiele to allegedly loot the bank.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Mr Obaze last July to investigate the activities of the CBN and other related entities under the leadership of Mr Emefiele.
