Senator representing Bauchi Central, Abdul Ningi, has returned to the Senate chamber on Tuesday, marking the end of his 75-day suspension, which was imposed by the Senate on March 12, 2024.
Last Tuesday, the Senate lifted the three-month suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi, following a motion moved by the Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, on behalf of the minority caucus.
Ningi, who was suspended for three months after accusing the Senate of budget padding in an interview with BBC Hausa service, has returned to the chamber.
Apparently, delighted to be back, he was among the first lawmakers to arrive at the National Assembly on Tuesday, eager to participate in the day’s plenary session.
Senator Ningi who along with some few other Senators like Suleiman Kawu (NNPP Kano South), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (PDP Sokoto South) etc, came into the National Assembly through the Villa Gate , arrived exactly at 10: 40am, 20minutes to 11:00am fixed for commencement of plenary which even started at about 12:10 pm.
Due to his suspension, Senator Abdul Ningi was stripped of his chairmanship role in the Senate Committee on National Identity and Population. The position was subsequently taken over by Senator Mustapha Musa (APC – Yobe East) just two days after Ningi’s suspension.
